Positive Input Ventilation System Installation PIV | Buckhurst Hill | London | IG10

A family called Leigh Electrical Contractors as they had just moved to the area as they had just inherited not only the property but also the condensation problem! They had moved from a modern apartment building which had a MRV (multiple room ventilation) system installed with vents in each room so called to enquirer about fitting this system in their new house.

A survey was booked in with the customer to see what ventilation system could be installed, as the house was a Victorian villa Leigh Electrical Contractors advised that installing a MRV system would be extremely expensive and difficult to do because of the age of the building.

The customer was advised that an Envirovent PIV loft unit works the same as the much more costly MRV system, but only has 1 vent located on the landing. The Envirovent PIV loft unit works by filtering the drier air form the loft void, and circulates the filtered air around the property.

This movement means that the water vapour in the damp, humid air cannot turn in to water droplets when it touches the colder areas in the house, the most common being windows and walls turning into condensation.

Condensation can often be overlooked as more of an annoyance then being a serious health problem but, when the condensation turns to black mould it can have serious health implications. The mould spores can become air bourne and once inhaled can start attacking your immune system, causing headaches, breathing difficulties, nausea, fatigue and even trigger respiratory problems and asthma.

Leigh Electrical Contractors advised the customer that with a proper ventilation system it would match their old MRV system. We recommended them to replace the bathroom and toilet fans with new Envirovent Silent 100 fans wired into the light so that when the light is turned off the timer operates and lets the fan run on for 20 minutes.

A Envirovent PIV loft unit was also recommended to be fitted in the loft space so that the air in the house was not just flowing but also had been filtered and all the air bourne particles removed. As their son suffered from asthma the family was very keen on installing the loft unit.
